a girl and her mom, or: why brave disappointed melet me first say that when i saw the previews for brave, i was incredibly excited. i was the little girl that grew up daydreaming of being born as a princess in medieval times, just so i could break all the rules and cross boundaries and fight and save the kingdom. everything that the previews of brave showed, i wanted to be (and, truthfully, sometimes still imagine being). from what i understood, brave was a story about a girl who wasn’t afraid to be herself: strong, independent, non-traditional, and, well, brave. i thought, “what a great story for this generation to grow up with!”
unfortunately, i was deceived.
